Round 6 of the GT4 European Series in Barcelona marked the end of the 2021 season. Overall, the weekend was positive in terms of performance on my side. I manage to do a solid lap in qualifying which ranked us 9th overall and 5th of the Silver category. I was very pleased of this performance as I hadn’t put any new tires on during free practice. In Race 1, we got hit by another driver while fighting in the Top 5 of the race, which forced us to retire as the radiator was damaged. In Race 2, I wanted to turn things over and catch up the lost ground in Race 1. The start was very messy, the line in I was positionned it remained stationary which comprised our chances of overtaking at the first breaking zone. Nevertheless, we had some very intense battles on track with the Mercedes and the Alpine (keeping in mind that the drivers in this stint are ranked Pro, which means that they have a lot of experience). I’m happy with the pace and the overtakes I’ve made during this race, I gained a lof of confidence and made a massive step frowrds in terms of race pace which was the element I needed to work on.
All of that is promising for the future, my best lap wasn’t far from the reference Aston Martin driver; one place ahead of us. Our Aston Martin Vantage GT4 allowed us to have great battles, and consistant lap times. It is always a pleasure driving the AMR Vantage GT4! The Team and the engineers did a great job as usual. I know yet that I’m able to fight against drivers who have a lot of experience in their racing careers.
I want to thank my sponsors Bovet 1822 and Aston Martin Geneva for being by my side. Thanks to all the people behind the scenes and to my family. Now let’s see what the future holds for 2022.
